Deities of nursing

Hi, I’m Horie of Inspection section.

I visited Izumo Taisha last month.

Okuninushi-no-okami is enshrined in the main shrine.

He is deity of marriage.

There were several other shrines in Izumo Taisha.
Among them I was interested in Amasaki-no-yashiro.
Kisagaihime-no-mikoto and Umugaihime-no-mikoto are enshrined here.

Kisagaihime-no-mikoto is deity of Ark shell.
Umugaihime-no-mikoto is deity of Clam.
They are also known as deities of medicine and nursing.
When Okuninushi-no-okami was young, he was severely injured by fire, and they cured him.

It was the first time I learned that there are deities of nursing.
I prayed for everyone’s health as a nurse.
